ConCurrents is a flash-based enrichment tool for middle school history classes that fosters perspective taking and rich understanding of historical context of a specific event or period of history. Currently we are focusing on the immigrant experience for people passing through Ellis Island in the 1920s. This program employs a “flipped classroom” model in which each student explores one of several characters’ narratives in the flash environment, and then comes to class the following day prepared to assume that character during an in class activity.
